FAIRMONT, W.Va. — At its most recent meeting, the Fairmont City Council voted to adopt the proposed five-year strategic plan drafted by City Administration. The plan aligns the City Manager and City Council on goals, objectives, and priorities until 2030.
“Plans like these are paramount to ensure that the City’s decision-makers are on the same page and working together,” City Manager Travis Blosser said. “Many of the items in this plan are slated for completion this year, so we have a busy 2025 on our plates, but we’re up to the challenge.”
The plan is divided into six focus areas, objectives within those focus areas, and deliverable results related to those objectives. The six main focuses are: economic revitalization & expansion, efficient City services, modern facilities & infrastructure, high-quality municipal workforce, community safety, and powerful partnerships & collaborations.
Each of these focus areas was crafted with the City’s mission statement in mind: “Our mission is to provide responsive, effective, cost-efficient government services while actively looking for opportunities to exceed expectations and apply creative approaches as we enhance safety, wellbeing, prosperity, and quality of life in Fairmont.”
“I believe that City Manager Blosser, along with input from Department Heads and Council, has presented a very forward-thinking, outcome-oriented 5-year plan that expands the Team Fairmont philosophy to include everyone in our great community.” City Councilmember Julie Sole said. “With a focus on current and future City employees, our business community, our facilities and parks, our community partners, and most importantly our citizens, everyone stands to benefit from the goals and objectives detailed in the plan.”
