City of Fairmont thanks federal leaders for disaster declarations

Press Releases Posted on July 22, 2025

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The City of Fairmont thanks President Donald Trump for officially signing both the Major Disaster Declaration and the Emergency Declaration, which were requested by Governor Morrisey. These declarations activate individual and public assistance for Marion County residents and governments affected by the Father’s Day Flood.

City leaders also thank our congressional delegation, Senator Capito, Senator Justice and Congressman Moore, for their advocacy on behalf of the flood victims in Marion County and Ohio County.

“These declarations will bring meaningful reimbursements to our community,” City Manager Travis Blosser said. “We’re already working with the West Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the Marion County Department of Homeland Security to make sure FEMA agents can get their relief stations up and running as soon as possible.”

Once correspondence with FEMA is established and the relief locations are solidified, the City will issue more information to the public and the press with details about how residents can get more information about these reimbursements.

“We want to again thank President Trump, Senator Capito, Senator Justice, Congressman Moore and Governor Morrisey for seeing the impact that this disaster had on our community, and taking these calls for relief seriously,” Mayor Anne Bolyard said. “The outpouring of support from around the state and the country was overwhelming, but this crucial financial assistance from the federal government will make a major difference in many households in Fairmont.”
